Los Medanos College prides itself in paving the way for students to succeed in their academic pursuits, including transferring to the four-year universities of their choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

LMC Class of 2024 graduates share their formulas for success as they embark on completing four-year degrees at some of California’s top universities. All agree, Los Medanos College gave them the edge they needed to stand out and be prepared for the next stage of their college careers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jose Maldonado<\/span> \u2013 Transfer to UC Berkeley<\/span>
\nBusiness Administration for Transfer and Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

\"JoseJose Maldonado<\/span>, 20, chose Los Medanos College for the wide variety of courses and opportunities he could delve into. Hard work and a knack for building collaborative relationships helped Maldonado complete his degrees for transfer. This fall, he transferred to UC Berkeley\u2019s Business School Haas Program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maldonado credits the support and assistance he found among LMC\u2019s many learning communities and resources, including\u00a0EOPS<\/a>,\u00a0Honors Program<\/a>,\u00a0Transfer and Career Services<\/a><\/span>, the office of\u00a0Financial Aid<\/span><\/a>,<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and in\u00a0student clubs<\/a> <\/span>like Puente, Latinx, and Firme.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maldonado found time to work at Student Life, where he contributed to the student experience, kept informed about campus events and helped others stay connected.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever your path, cherish every step of the way. There will be moments of stress and moments of joy,\u201d Maldonado said. \u201cBut remember, you’re never alone. Professors, family, and friends all want to see you succeed. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help – attend office hours, seek tutoring, and don’t fear failure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Emma Rivera<\/span> \u2013 Transfer to Sacramento State University<\/span>
\nGraphic Design<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

\"EmmaEmma Rivera<\/span>, 20, graduated this spring with an\u00a0associate degree for transfer in graphic design<\/strong><\/a>. She transferred to Sacramento State University this fall in pursuit of a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rivera is the first in her family to attend college.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOne of my favorite experiences at LMC was taking the ceramics and graphic design classes,\u201d Rivera said. \u201cThose classes not only left me with fond memories, but they also helped inspire me to pursue a career that I want in the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As an undecided major when she first enrolled at LMC, Rivera felt lost but soon found support.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was able to try different subjects and finally find a major that I was passionate about. LMC is also much more affordable and forgiving than exploring majors at a university,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, make the most of the awesome classes and teachers at LMC.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Rivera worked as an\u00a0intern in the Marketing Department<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and is the artist behind\u00a0LMC\u2019s newly adopted official seal<\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Antonio Moore<\/span> \u2013 Transfer to San Francisco State University<\/span>
\nBusiness Administration<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

\"AntonioAntonio Moore<\/span>, 21, started his journey at Los Medanos College with nine AP classes under his belt and a long-term mission to be head of operations at a major company.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLMC gave me professional experience,\u201d he said. \u201cI became part of student government, ran clubs and built a network of individuals who have helped me stay focused.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Moore served as vice president of clubs, such as Active Minds, Pride Alliance, and LMCAS. He was a member of several other clubs, including Art Club.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the first in his family to graduate, he said he has been grateful that LMC gave him the opportunity to tailor his college experience to his vision and goals. Next stop, San Francisco State University.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI thrive in situations where I can see how things are going and streamline the process, problem solve and build relationships,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve been able to do that here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
