Los Medanos College Launch serves prospective and current LMC students who are 18 years of age or older and who are enrolled in a HS Diploma (HSD) or GED program. LMC Launch works with adult education centers in East Contra Costa County to help students prepare for continuing their education at Los Medanos College for free.

How it works:

  1. Be enrolled in a high school diploma or GED program at an Adult Education Center
  2. Submit a free application to LMC as a concurrent adult school student
  3. Submit an Adult Education Special Admit Form
  4. Enroll in up to 11 units tuition free

Adult students often face difficulties entering higher education due to California residency requirements and the financial burdens of high tuition costs for people with state non-resident status. With LMC Launch, students can access career technical education and/or courses that lead to a university degree tuition-free and while working towards earning a high school diploma or GED. This program was designed with three goals in mind:

Save Time Earn college units and credit toward your Adult Education Program at the same time.
Save Money No tuition, and often zero textbook costs, a $2 Student Activity Fee and $10 Annual Student Union Fee still apply.
Reach Goals Earn a two-year college degree, Certificate of Achievement, or prepare to transfer to a university.
