Effective Tips for Student Success

  • Read the syllabus for each class and ask the instructor for clarification if something isn’t clear.
  • List your assignment due dates and exam dates on a planner or calendar that you refer to daily.
  • Don’t procrastinate. Get started on your assignments early, and work on them regularly.
  • Visit your instructors during their office hours, even if it’s just to say hello.
  • If you start to struggle in a class, get help as soon as possible. Utilize the many services available to you, including:

  Tutoring Center

  Math Lab

  Library

  • Review your lecture notes immediately after each class, whenever possible, or at least later that day.
  • Attend class. If you must miss a class session, contact the instructor in advance to let them know you won’t be there.
  • Get acquainted with at least two other people in your class and exchange contact information – that way you can help support each other if one of you has to miss a class session.

As a Student, You are Expected to:

  • Participate and engage in all courses in which you are enrolled.
